# Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and line a 9x13 inch rectangular cake pan.
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
- Beat butter and sugar in a large bowl until pale and fluffy.
- Incorporate eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract.
- Alternately add dry ingredients and milk to the butter mixture, starting and ending with dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Pour batter into prepared pan, smooth top, and bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Allow cake to cool in pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

- Level the cooled cake, then cut into a video game controller shape using a template or freehand.
- Cover cake with a thin layer of buttercream to seal crumbs, then chill for 30 minutes.
- Tint fondant with gel colors, roll out on cornstarch-dusted surface, cover cake with gray fondant, and embellish with colored fondant pieces to replicate buttons and pixel details.
- Place finished cake on serving platter to resemble a pixelated controller.
